HUNTABLE GAME AT UMLINGO LODGE - Klipspringer !
Klippspringers are among the daintiest of antelopes, reaching a shoulder height of just under 60 cm and a body weight of 10–13 kg. Females are slightly larger and heavier than males. Males also have short, straight, widely spaced horns, about 20–25 cm long.
Klippspringers have two characteristics adapted to living in rocky habitats. They are the only antelopes that walk on the tips of their hooves, which wear down to form cylindrical hooves, leaving a distinctive two-circle track. This specific hoof shape gives klipspringers better grip on smooth rock surfaces. Another adaptation is their thick and firm coat. Each hair is hollow and bristle-like, providing excellent insulation against the extreme temperatures of their high-altitude habitats, protecting against both intense heat and severe cold.
