HUNTABLE GAME AT UMLINGO LODGE - Zebra!
Zebras are distinctive with their striking black-and-white striped coats. The pattern of the stripes is unique to each individual, much like fingerprints in humans. Zebras at Umlingo Lodge have a white belly, thickly striped legs, and horizontal stripes on their torso. Unlike some other zebra species, they do not have shadow stripes. They also feature a prominent dewlap under their neck.
Zebras have a shoulder height of about 130 cm and can weigh up to 260 kg. They are robust animals capable of surviving in a variety of habitats, from savannas to woodlands. Their social structure is typically composed of small family groups led by a stallion, accompanied by several mares and their foals.
Zebras are primarily grazers, feeding on grasses, but they can also eat leaves, bark, and stems when grass is scarce. They are known for their strong sense of community, often seen grooming each other and standing close together to protect against predators. Zebras can live up to 30 years in the wild, and their keen sense of hearing and strong legs make them adept at escaping danger.
